The Skardu Valley is located at the confluence of the Shigar and Indus Rivers. It is surrounded by the large Karakoram mountain range. This area is home to some of the highest mountain peaks in the world, such as the famous K2 peak, 65 miles to the north-west from the departure airport of Skardu.
